Wales Sevens squad for Singapore/Vancouver

Wales Sevens head teach Richie Pugh has named his thirteen-guy squad for the Singapore and Vancouver legs of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Wales will play New Zealand, Scotland and Argentina in Pool C inside the 5th round of the world collection in Singapore this weekend earlier than heading for the Canada leg the following week.

Morgan Sieniawski returns to the squad for the primary time since Sydney in 2020 even as there are 4 uncapped players covered.

Ex-Wales U20s winger Carrick McDonough and Cardiff winger Iwan Pyrs Jones will make their debuts alongside Bishop’s Stortford’s Chris Smith and Scarlets winger Callum Williams.

As properly as facing daunting opposition Pugh said the young Welsh aspect can even have to triumph over the gambling situations wherein the temperatures should attain 35 ranges with humidity inside the 80s.

“The heat is going to be new for us – we’re going into 35 degrees and the humidity of Singapore – even though they are saying it's far an air-conditioned stadium, it’s a climate that we are never going to get used to as Welshman I’m afraid,” stated Pugh.

“I recognize New Zealand might be bouncing for it – it’s been over two years in view that they were capable of tour and play on the circuit even as Argentina in my eyes are one of the shape teams within the series in the interim. Watch SG 7s Rugby Online

“Scotland are a properly organised and properly coached sevens team with quite a few threats so it’s a actual exciting pool to go up in opposition to but that is what it’s about. Those are the challenges we need to be facing and coming thru that day one and see in which we're at.”
